The Journey

Born in Addis Ababa, Tilahun Giorgis(Teegu) was surrounded by jazz from his earliest memories. His grandmother, a blues singer in the 1940s, and his father, a session musician, provided the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion for jazz music.

After studying at the prestigious Berkley College of Music, Teegu spent his early career touring with established jazz ensembles, learning from masters of the craft. This period of apprenticeship shaped his understanding of jazz tradition while inspiring him to develop his own unique voice.

Today, Teegu is recognized as one of the leading voices in contemporary jazz, known for his ability to honor the genre's rich history while pushing its boundaries. His compositions blend traditional jazz elements with modern influences, creating music that resonates with audiences across generations.
